Meals are provided to homebound seniors serving the areas of
Dunsmuir ~ McCloud ~ Mt. Shasta ~ Weed

Serving all seniors ~ 60 and Over~ Since 1974

SENIORS WILL NOT BE DENIED A MEAL DUE TO THE INABILITY TO CONTRIBUTE.

HOMEBOUNDS:
The Shasta Area Wheels program promotes health and supports the choice of independence by preparing and delivering nutritious, affordable meals to people in need of our service. We serve approximately 60 homebound lunches a day, Monday through Friday. Meals are delivered between 10:30 and 1:30. . The meals we deliver are oftentimes the only hot meal of the day for each client. The suggested contribution for a homebound meal is $3.50.

Another core value of this and our other services is the social contact with each client. This helps ensure their safety. Friendly and committed volunteers enjoy a short visit, and engage each client in conversation. We reduce isolation and add care and comfort by coming to their place of residence. Each volunteer gets to know his or her clients and may be the only human contact that these seniors receive on a regular basis

ON-SITE MEALS:
Hot meals prepared at our facility are also served on-site Monday through Friday at The Senior Dinning Center located at the Mt. Shasta City Park, 1315 Nixon Road. The on-site meals start at 12:00 noon with our less mobile clients being served by caring volunteers and all clients who can walk comfortably served cafeteria style. The suggested contribution for a meal at our facility for seniors over 60 is $3.00. We invite the community to pop in and visit with the seniors. It’s a nice way to spend lunch, make some new friends and enjoy some great food. Price of lunch for anyone 59 and younger is $6.00.

TRANSPORTATION FOR ON-SITE MEALS:
The Mt Shasta Senior Nutrition Project provides transportation to and from the Mt. Shasta City Park. Please call 926-4611 between 8:30 a.m. and 9:00 a.m. to schedule a ride. The suggested contribution for a ride is $1.00.

FRIDAY SATELLITE IN DUNSMUIR:
Every Friday at noon we serve a meal to the Dunsmuir senior community at:
